To Pay or not to Pay

If you’re involved with internet marketing at all, you know about affiliate income.  For those of you that aren’t let me explain briefly…

Think of it as advertising for some business.  If that business sells something based on you advertising for them, they turn around and pay you a percentage of that sale.  So, in order for them to pay you for advertising for them, they have to sell something AND know that sale came from your efforts.

In internet marketing, it’s extremely easy to track where the sale came from and I won’t get into here.  But bottom line, it’s the businesses resposibility to pay the people who bring in sales to them. 

Most business or people are more than thrilled to pay the people who bring in business, they would be foolish not to.  However, there are always those that, for whatever reason, just don’t do it.  The sad part is, once word gets out about they paying (or not paying) habits, it spreads like wildfire to the rest of the internet community and the integrity is then lost, or at least really damaged.

Then there are the folks that again, for whatever reason, don’t have the money to pay their affiliates, (which really puzzles me) but at least they have the balls to let their affiliates know it and gives them a date as to when they will get paid.  I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, but at least the affiliate knows what’s going on and the communications stay open. 

If you are reading this, and you’re the person who just flat out doesn’t pay your affiliates….SHAME ON YOU!  I come of the old school of your word is your bond, and if someone can’t trust your word, why would they trust anything else about you?
